Business Manager

The Business Manager is responsible for creating and balancing the annual budget, overseeing day-to-day financial operations, managing debt and expenses, determining salaries in conjunction with the Editor in Chief, and performing any other duties as assigned by the Editor in Chief. Is also responsible for implementing all binding decisions to the staff, act as a member of the Lance Oversight Committee
Qualifications
• Experience in accounting/human resources
• Intermediate knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, and Simply Accounting
• A minimum of one year’s work experience in a management position.
• Experience in a publishing environment a plus

Department Editor
Part-time
The Department Editor (News, Arts, Sports, etc.) is responsible to the Editor in Chief for actively seeking, assigning, writing, editing, and layout of relevant stories for The Lance;
Be responsible for editing all of their section’s copy before publication; Be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteer staff and reporters for their section;
Be responsible for all photographs required for their Department; Perform other duties as assigned by the Editor in Chief. Is also responsible to editorial meetings.
Qualifications
• Experience in editing/proofreading, CP Style, journalism and writing for the media
• Intermediate knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, Adobe InDesign, and photo-editing software
• Experience in writing for the print media
• Experience in writing with The Lance, or another student publication, a plus

Production Manager

The Production Manager is responsible to the Editor in Chief for the production of The Lance; Be responsible for maintaining the highest possible quality in page design, and for copyediting and correcting all on-page layout errors after pages have been approved by section editors; Work with the Editor in Chief to ensure that computer software efficiency and database systems are maintained; Perform other duties as assigned by the Editor in Chief.Is also responsible to attend production meetings.
Qualifications

Advertising Manager
30+ hours per week
The Advertising Manager is responsible to the Editor in Chief and the Business Manager; Generate weekly advertising revenue determined by the Business Manager; Act as a liaison between advertisers and The Lance Editorial Board; Act as a liaison between advertisers and The Lance Ad Designer; Uphold the guidelines set forth by The Lance Advertising Policy.
Qualifications
• Experience in marketing, sales and promotions
• Intermediate knowledge of Photo Shop, and Adobe Illustrator or photo-editing software
• Experience in writing for the print media
• Experience in advertising design or marketing design
• Previous sales experience a plus
